The twenty-four plays in this collection deal with various issues historical, social, political, diasporas and sometimes autobiographical. The hegemonic class has often hushed up the history of the Dalits and thereby silenced them. Raju Das's plays like "Mahatma Bhegai Halder" and "King Mani Bhangar" unearth the hushed up incidents and thereby discover the glorious history of the Dalits and provide them with a voice. The socio-political views of Harichand and Guruchand Thakur are presented in the plays like "Partition of Bengal" and "Domiciliary Custom of Harichand". Contemporary issues of social problems find expression in the plays like "12th June". "Ragging", "Black Law-2003", "Corona Virus", "Fight for Land" etc. A major portion of Dalit literature in Bengal deal with the diasporas issues. It is well addressed in the plays like "In Search of the Roots" and "A Conversation between Fatima and Rama". It is noteworthy that Raju Das who is the Director of Shantikunja Blind Natya Academy has written plays with disabled characters. The names of "Light in Darkness" and "The Sky" deserve mention. The issue of Dalit feminism is well-addressed in the plays like "Firebrand Females of the Badaban" and "Tears in Women's Eyes".
It is very much an academic necessity to publish the translations of the plays of Raju Das in order to take them to a wider readership, both in Bengal and outside Bengal, and thereby make the readers aware of the Dalit drama tradition of Bengal.

গল্প প্রসঙ্গে কোনাে কথাই বলা উচিত না, তবু বেশ অনেক আগের লেখা গল্প নতুন গল্পের সঙ্গে মিশিয়ে দিতে গিয়ে কিছুটা বাড়তি সংশয় দানা বাঁধছে, আর তাই কয়েকটা কথাও লিখে ফেললাম। প্রত্যেকটা গল্পই তীব্রভাবে বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতার ফসল। বানানাে গল্প ফাদিনি।

বৈষ্ণব সাহিত্য - বৈষ্ণব ধর্ম ও দর্শনকে কেন্দ্র করে মধ্যযুগে রচিত একটি কাব্যধারা। রাধাকৃষ্ণের প্রণয়লীলা এর মূল উপজীব্য। জয়দেবের গীতগোবিন্দম্ এ ধারার প্রথম কাব্য। পরে চতুর্দশ শতকে বড়ু চন্ডীদাস বাংলা ভাষায় রচনা করেন শ্রীকৃষ্ণকীর্তন নামে একখানি আখ্যানকাব্য। মিথিলার কবি বিদ্যাপতি (আনু. ১৩৭৪-১৪৬০) ব্রজবুলিতে রাধাকৃষ্ণের লীলাবিষয়ক অনেক পদ রচনা করেন। পদগুলি বাঙালিদের নিকট এতই জনপ্রিয় হয়েছিল যে, সেগুলির কারণে ব্রজবুলি ভাষাটিই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে ওঠে এবং পরবর্তীকালে অনেক বাঙালি কবি এ ভাষায় বৈষ্ণবপদ রচনা করেন। লেখক বৈষ্ণব ধর্মতত্ত্ব ও দর্শন এর সম্পূর্ণ ধারণা এই বইটিতে তুলে ধরেছেন।

রবীন্দ্রনাথের অলােকসামান্য, বিস্ময়কর ও বহুমুখী প্রভাবের কালেও যেসব সাহিত্যিক, কবি আপন প্রতিভার মৌলিকতা দেখিয়েছিলেন, দ্বিজেন্দ্রলাল রায় ছিলেন তাদের মধ্যে অন্যতম। একথা সর্বজনস্বীকৃত যে দ্বিজেন্দ্রলাল রায় বাংলা সাহিত্যের একজন শক্তিমান শিল্পী। বাংলা কাব্যে তাঁর প্রকাশ কে স্বয়ং কবিগুরুই স্বাগত জানান। বলেন, “দ্বিজেন্দ্রলাল বাংলাভাষায় একটা নতুন শক্তি আবিষ্কার করিয়াছেন।" আরাে জানান, আমি অন্তরের সহিত তাহার প্রতিভাকে শ্রদ্ধা করিয়াছি এবং আমার লেখায় বা আচরণে কখনাে তাহার প্রতি অশ্রদ্ধা প্রকাশ করি নাই।
বর্তমানকালের অনেক প্রতিনিধিস্থানীয় প্রাবন্ধিকেরই দ্বিজেন্দ্রচর্চায় বিমুখতা আমাদের বেদনাহত করলেও, অনেকেই উৎসাহে নতুন লেখাও লিখে দিয়েছেন-আমরা আপ্লুত, আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ। এছাড়াও সংকলনভুক্ত বেশ কিছু রচনা সংশ্লিষ্ট রচয়িতা কিংবা তাদের আইনানুগ উত্তরাধিকারীর সৌজন্যে পুনর্মুদ্রিত হয়েছে। এ-গ্রন্থটি যদি ভালাে লাগে তার কৃতিত্ব স্বয়ং লেখকদের, কারণ তারা বাংলা সাহিত্যের এক উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্রকে বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধাঞ্জলি জানিয়েছেন।
